Mikey Show Recap Wed. December 20, 2006

Today on The Mikey Show…

~ Mikey read us an email from P-1 Football Mom who was really down on her luck. She explained in the email that her sons father had ran some scams back where they are originally from and it emptied her bank accounts. She went on to say that her and her 10 year old son were living in her car for a while but just recently got a place. They were wondering if Mikey could help they get some furniture so the P-1 does not have to sleep on the floor anymore. We hooked her up with a bunch of Time Warner gift cards and things for her self and son. A lot of P-1's called in to donate things like furniture and even cash.

~ We played Who Can Sean Beat Now but with a little bit of a twist. Crush-it though he could take Sean on and win, so we let him have his shot. Crush-it told us that when he plays along in his car "he gets the songs as fast or faster then Sean does". Well, he proved it. In a head to head battle, Sean and Crush-it were close on a few songs but then Crush-it turned the heat up and started naming songs in half a beat. It was pretty amazing, he is Sean's only real competition.

The Mikey Show is on vacation until Jan. 2, 2007. Have a Happy Holiday everyone!

Mikey Show Recap Monday December 18, 2006

Today on The Mikey Show…

~ Shawne Merriman called in today. He old us that he has no Christmas tree and will be hanging around San Diego for Christmas. Mikey asked if his mom is still a mom with him and he told us that she still is and still wants to run out on to the field if he is laying down for a little too long. Shawne also told us that last week he was on crutches. He said that he has joint swelling in his foot and it was bad enough to the point where he could not put his foot on the ground.

~ Our friend Amy stopped by the show today. She wanted to promote the San Diego International Auto Show that is happening real soon. Mikey is really into it and said that he is going to be there every day, most likely living there while the show goes on. Eddie was not too interested but said if they ever get a Star Wars section with Land speeders he will camp out there as well.

~ Mikey read an email from a P-1 in a situation concerning his kids and their Christmas gifts. This P-1 guy had set up a Christmas fund last year with his wife to save money for their kids presents. They checked the fund out and figured that they had enough cash to get the kids their gifts and have a bunch of money left over. The wife wants to spend the rest of the money on the kids presents but the husband thinks it would be better if they saved that money for next year. He also mentioned in the email that he does not want to spoil his kids and his wife thinks he is a grinch for saying that. Eddie explained that at Christmas time all bets are off and you have to go all out with gift giving.

~ Sky lights are named after Sky. Today while talking about the snow that fell in southern California, Sky told us that she thought her Skylights were going to cave in from the rain and the guys jumped on top of that opportunity right away. They claimed that the lights used to be called Lori lights but then Mrs. Sky renamed them to Sky lights. You can hear that on today's pod cast.

Today on The Mikey Show…

~ Mikey received an email from a P-1 who had a problem with a secret Santa. The P-1 wrote in telling us that this guy was horrible at secret Santa and that his gifts always were compiled of free samples that he had collected through out the year. He gave like shampoo and toothpaste, tide and dryer sheet samples a bunch of stuff that you would probably not want to get from a secret Santa. Mikey explained that we have a secret Santa like that on our show but he is worse. Mikey told the P-1's about how Sean has avoided giving and acknowledging getting gifts for the past five years with everyone else on the show. Mikey's advice for the P-1 was to bring the guy on the air and confront him like they did to Sean today.

~ We played Tone Deaf Karaoke with our special lady Ashlee today. Ashlee really sounded special singing some Nickel back and that song from everyone's "high school days" called "Will You Remember Me" sang really sappy and crappy, and every time it comes on some chick has to turn it up and sing with it because it reminded her of high school, anyways the song is awful.

~ Mark Fabiani called into the show today. Mark made a statement talking about Mike Aguirre and how his assistant was spending work time trying to book Mr. Aguirre guests for his radio show (he has been filling in for some guy). Mark wanted to talk to us about the comments he made and how Mike Aguirre is not looking out for San Diego's best interest when it comes to the Chargers.

~ Gary Hoey made an in studio appearance on the show. He came in and ripped it up on the guitar playing some wicked sick Christmas tunes. He played us Carol of the Bells and then we heard some stuff off of his new album. He told us that when he was younger he practiced about 10 hours a day. Today on The Mikey Show…

~ Dr. Phil came on the show today to give some of his close to useless backwoods advice. Mikey got an email from this P-1 guy. He wrote him saying that he and his lady had an agreement this year to get each other no gifts but she went out and bought him some presents and put them under the tree and ruined the agreement. Mikey had Dr. Phil, a professional, come and give this guy some advice but Dr. Phil ended up quoting a Bon Jovi song then talking about how his parents would give each other std's.

~ Shawne Merriman called into the show today. We missed him on Monday and found out that he was doing shots with Crush-it Sunday night in a little post game celebration downtown. He told us that after the season he has a few trips planned out. He is going to Guam with a program that goes to elementary schools and reads to kids and helps them get into reading. This melted Sky's heart. Mikey asked why Shawne has no lady in his life and Eddie rightfully answered for him that he is smart.

~ Sky despises Angelina Jolie. In the news today Angelina tries to defend her relationship with Brad Pitt and Sky made it a point to make a timeline of the hook up to prove Angelina is a husband stealer. Sky figured that Shiloh was conceived about 2 months after the separation but before the divorce was final which Sky felt was wrong in so many ways but only blamed Angelina. A P-1 pointed out that Brad should be the one to blame in a situation but Sky could not blame him (probably because she thinks he is really hot). Mikey asked Eddie and Sky what they thought was the appropriate time to hook up with someone who is not your spouse after a split. Eddie said around a year. Sky said that it would have to be after the divorce is finalized and then maybe 6 months after that.

Today on The Mikey Show…

~ We played P-1 Balderdash. Today we found out that it is actually illegal to give a squirrel fast food French fries and that it is not illegal to give George Michael the keys to a public restroom. We also learned that cackalack was not a slang term originated by Mike Rickerd but its actually a albino cockroach.

~ Mikey told us about Hession thinking that the Chargers Power Rally was only for Clear Channel employees. Hession asked Shauna if she could bring some friends to the rally then asked if it would be open to the public. Shauna told Hession that it would not be open to the public but that she could invite her friends. The next day after the great turn out, Shauna told Hession that she was surprised at how many friends she had. Hession came down to the studio to find out why Mikey was making fun of her and downing a weird imitation of her voice on air. While down in the studio, Ashlee tried to defend Hession by saying she is not from San Diego and maybe she does not know what a Power Rally is, then the guys ragged on Ashlee for thinking Hession did not know what a rally is.

~ Sky thinks that everywhere there is a Christmas tree, there should be something from every other religion so its all represented fairly. There was a story in the news about a Rabbi who wanted am Menorah put up for every Christmas tree that was in a Seattle airport but instead they took down all the trees. Sky fully believes that for every Christmas tree there should be equal representation for every other religious idol. Mikey and Eddie kept telling her that Christmas trees are not a religious thing and they fought for a while over it. P-1's called in to voice their side, a Jewish P-1 called in to say that the Rabbi was not speaking for everyone of the religion because he could care less if they had only Christmas trees up.

Today on The Mikey Show…

~ Elliot Yamin, who placed third in last years American Idol, called into the show today. He has a new Christmas song that is downloadable today. He told us that he will be releasing an album around Valentines day. He said that the sound he is going for with the album is an old school soul sound. Mikey asked what kind of last name is Yamin and he told us that it is Jewish. He also told us that his mother was in a doo-wop group in her day.

~ Diego Sanchez the undefeated UFC fighter came into the studio today. He has a fight this coming Wednesday at the Miramar base which will be broadcast live on Spike TV. He is originally from Albuquerque New Mexico but San Diego is his second home because he is here almost half the year with his boxing trainer who lives here. He told us that he really looks up to Bruce Lee and has read a lot of his stuff. He also revealed to us that he is a Christian.

~ We did another Mikey Show Questionnaire today. We learned that both Eddie and Mikey would let B. Rob watch their house if they went out of town. B. Rob and Mikey both said they would eat Ashlee if they had to eat some one on the show to survive. Sky said she would want Sean to write her biography and everyone almost unanimously agreed that if we had to have one person on the show perform surgery on us that Eddie would be the man to do it.

~ Mikey read us an email he received from this P-1 lady whose mother passed away recently and left behind her diaries. She said her mother kept a diary from the time when she was really young to she could not write in it anymore at the age of 63. Her mother passed and she has the diaries and is caught in a dilemma on whether or no she should read them. Mikey explained that he would read his fathers diary if he was in the situation but would skip through stuff he did not want to know about. Mikey said he would read it to know what and how his father thought about things.

~ B. Rob and Eddie got into today over who is more athletic. B. Rob was mad that Eddie had said he was the most un-athletic person he knows. B. Rob was to having that and now for the next few weeks there will be challenges like a basketball one on one game, a home run derby and so on to find out who is more athletic.

I disagree…I blew him out of the water when I had the three second headstart.  Matter of fact, I felt bad and slowed down half way through the race.  Also, the Sky race was close, but I still won, and I would again. 

But B-Rob is a fast kid and he beat me fair and square on that first race..I'll def give him that.

Today on The Mikey Show…

~ B. Rob and Fish a.k.a. Boy Blunder raced today. A P-1 called in and asked about the foot race that Eddie was challenged to by Blunder. Eddie has a injury right now so could not compete but B. Rob started jawing off saying that he could beat both of them. Blunder thought he could take B. Rob so they went outside and race. B. Rob won, then they did it again giving Blunder a 3 second lead. Blunder just barely won that race. Then Sky raced Blunder and almost squeaked out a win but could not catch up to him at the last second. ~ We talked to that Christmas beating Valerie and her husband Brett today. Valerie is the chick who did not want to go to her husband's family's house for Christmas because they are poor. When Mikey tried talking to Brett her husband, Valerie cut him off and answered for him. You could totally tell this guy had been mentally beat up by this chick. He explained that he did not want to make his wife mad but he did not even have a leg to stand on when it came to this beating of a broad.

~ We played Puss Rock Juke Box today. Today the batch was not that great but the last guy totally redeemed the entire group when we heard him belt out R.E.O. Speed Wagon's Can't Fight This Feeling. Sean commented that the guy definitely like to suck on blow pops in front of construction sites.

~ Mikey got an email from P-1 Josh today. P-1 Josh explained in a email that his mother has been very ill and diagnosed with multiple degenerative discs in her back and rheumatoid arthritis. His mother is only 45 and is practically bed ridden. All of her disability money goes to her medication and just recently her dog Kiko fell and hurt himself really bad. The injury is equivalent to a human tearing their ACL. They have no money left to get the dog the surgery it needs so he turned to Mikey and the P-1 army to raise the cash. Today on The Mikey Show…

~ Shawne "Lights Out" Merriman called into the show today. Yesterday was Shawne's' return from his suspension, he told us that he is like a kid waiting for Christmas for that week before his return. He told us that the steroid chants came during the game but it only made him partially mad and he kind of laughed it off. He told us that on the plane ride he listens to music or sleeps but last year he was constantly studying the playbook.

~ W played P-1 Pop Culture Quiz today. Big Tuna started a rally for Eddie today. He did it in honor of Eddie and his chill town rally for Big Tuna during Who Can Sean Beat Now. We think Tuna might of jinxed Eddie because going into the competition Eddie was undefeated but today he lost to two different P-1's.

~ We announced the Chargers Power Rally that Rock is putting on this Thursday. We are trying to get the city pumped for this heroic Chargers team and get them ready for the playoffs. The Chargers are 10-2 and are tied right now with the Colts for the bets record in the league. The show will be out at Qualcomm along with players and Cheerleaders from 3 to 7pm this Thursday. We want everyone to go and some their Bolts some love.

~ We talked to P-1 Valerie today. Mikey got an email from this broad about not wanting to go to her husband's family's house for Christmas. This broad had the balls to say that she did not want to go to her husbands family's house because they do not have a lot of money. She said that her family does it up bigger and better for Christmas and have a big party. She said that her husbands family does not have money and that she will go their place for other holidays but not Christmas. The majority of the P-1's called us and let her know she is what is wrong with Christmas but there were a few P-1's that saw her side of the story.

Toady on The Mikey Show…

~ In case you did not hear, a killer whale has attacked one of the trainers at Sea world. Eddie was right all along about the vicious mammals known as Orcas. Mikey and Eddie both felt that they should put the whale to sleep because of what it did, Eddie actually said they should harpoon it. Sky and Ashlee were not about to agree with that, they believed that the trainer might be the cause because the same whale attacked this trainer a few years back. We also talked to the nurse that was the trainers operating nurse about the tragic event.

~ The Eddie and Lew Bush fight. Last week on the Chargers Pre-game show Eddie got into it with Lew Bush over a cheap hit. Eddie was dead set on letting Lew know that he was not having it and they fought on air which was some really great radio. We replayed the clip and Jim the host of the show pretty much stayed out of it for most of the fight. We had Jim and Lew on the phone with us today to discuss what happened and they told us that the arguing goes on all the time on the show.

~ Ashlee and Sky had both never seen Good Fellas. Mikey asked Ashlee to watch it and he would give her 20 bucks which she was happy to do but had to beg and plead with Sky to get her to watch the movie, even with the money offer he still had to beg. They both watched it and Ashlee loved the movie but got confused at some parts and Sky thought the movie was a little too gory. They both agreed that the soundtrack to the movie is great.

~ We played a new game today called Sound Effects Theater. We get two P-1's on the line and have them go head to head in a who knows the most Mikey Show sound effects competition. The first P-1 has to say a Mikey Show sound effect like "Omeed a popaul" then the second P-1 has to say a sound effect, they go until someone can not name another. This was a really fun to listen to.
