Mikey Show Recap Monday April 30, 2007

Today on The Mikey Show…

~ Sky was out today so we had Shauna fill in for her. Shauna was not a fan of giving news teases and subbed out the work to each member of the show. She had Ashlee, B. Rob and Bobby all read a tease for her.

~ Mikey announced the "That's What She Said" Comedy Show that Rock 1053 is putting on in June. We are having good friend of the show comedian Craig Gass, who called in, at the event and headlining is Sarah Silverman. Craig talked to us about how he is in Cancun right now and will be performing on the beach this week. He also told us that he is going to be on a tv show called Next Best Thing. The show is a competition to find the best celebrity impersonator, he is going on as Al Pacino.

~ We had the kids from The Apprentice in today and Mikey gave them their next challenge. We briefly talked about Lori being fired from the competition last week and how she kind of flipped out right after. Mikey told the contestants that this week their challenge is to get press for The Mikey Show and to have proof of it. It was suggested to try and get on TV and of course the bigger the media outlet the better chance of winning the competition.

~ We spoke with Mr. Ian Ziering who called into the show today. He had no problem talking to us about the 90210 days and was actually happy to speak about it. He said those were the some of the best days of his life. He told us that Steve Sanders, who he played on 90210, was a sad clown and was the overcompensation guy on the show. He said he thinks if we were to check on Steve now he would be running a tabloid for work and he would be driving a corvette. He is currently on Dancing with the Stars and he told us that he puts roughly 6 hours of practice a day into his dancing.

Tomorrow on The Mikey Show… Whatcha Doin' At The Courthouse? with B. Rob

Mikey Show Recap Thursday April 26, 2007

Today on The Mikey Show…

~ We spoke with General Manager of the Chargers, A.J. Smith today. A.J. is not a man of many words when it comes to who he wants to take in the draft but he did tell us that he has a game plan that will be executed come draft day. He confirmed that the Chargers had been shopping Michael Turner and said that Turner deserves to be a starter some where.

~ Stone Cold Steve Austin called into the show today. He talked to us about his new movie called The Condemned. It takes place in modern day and is about a rich guy that buys a bunch of criminals who are on death row or facing life in jail. He then drops them on an island and makes them fight to the death and the winner gets their freedom and cash.

~ Peter King from Sports Illustrated and Inside the NFL on HBO called into the show. He spoke to us about the draft and told us that he believes that A.J. Smith has done the best job in the draft the past few years in helping out his team. He told us that he thinks Atlanta will have the best draft and Detroit will have the worst. He said that Calvin Johnson is the best guy in this years draft and he has been told by scouts that this is the best they have seen in a player ever.

~ Eddie was really upset with Sky today. They went to the Spider Man 3 premiere yesterday and when they were leaving, Eddie asked Sky to meet him around the other side of the building. Sky did not really want to and played dumb acting like she did not know how to drive around the building (a circle). Eddie and Mikey got on her for not understanding how to drive around a building.

~ We played Tone Deaf Karaoke today. Today Ashlee did a interesting rendition of Mr. Mister's Broken wings that almost no one could figure out. She also gave it her best to sing R. Kelly's I Believe I Can Fly. We had only two winners today and we were astonished that those two guessed the songs.

Tomorrow is Best of… and REMEMBER to listen to the fellas, Mikey and Eddie, as they broadcast live this weekend from the NFL Draft in New York. Tune in Saturday morning to Rock 1053 for all your NFL Draft action.

Mikey Show Recap Wed. April 25, 2007

Today on The Mikey Show...
~ Charger Kasim Osgood was in studio today. He spoke with us about the new Charger uniforms and how him and some of the other Chargers will be out at Plaza Bonita tomorrow doing a signing. The new uniforms go on sale tomorrow. They talked about how the uni's have a little less cloth which helps the players not get grabbed as much and the uniforms are light weight. Recently Kasim was on Road Rules Real World challenge on MTV and He also informed us he will be at his Celebrity golf tournament that is going on May 14th where most of the Chargers players will be present.

~ Charger Alumni Stan Humphries was in studio along with Mr. Lew Bush. They talked to us about the year they went to the Super bowl and what it was like for them. They both agreed that the team was really young and that took a toll on them. Stan told us that the night before he had no problem getting to sleep and both him and Lew agreed that the day of the game it seemed to be a really long day. Stan told us that he still follows the Chargers and watches them on Satelliete. They talked about the draft and how things will be different for Chargers fans this year because of all the staff changes that have been made. This weekend in Stan Humphries Toyota Celebrity golf tournament, big names like Emit Smith, John Elway and Jerry Rice will be there.

~ We played Ashlee Pyramid today. Sky and Ashlee were on fire the first game and we all thought they might not do as well because Ashlee had been gone for a while. Sky had to guess things you would find at a museum, a birthday party, what a doctor says, and things at a laundry mat which Ashlee said where strangers meet up and hook up.

Tomorrow on The Mikey Show… Chargers G.M.,  A.J. Smith

Mikey Show Recap Tuesday April 24, 2007

Today on The Mikey Show...
~ We received a call from P1 Amanda today telling us that she was in a bind. She explained that when she goes out, her and her girls give out fake names. She told us that the guy she gave a fake name to the other night and her are going out on a second date. She did not know whether to break it to him that she gave him the fake name "Hildy". We got calls from P1 females that had a fake name they would use if they were approached by a guy they thought was ugly.

~ We played Puss Rock Juke Box today. The batch of guys were decent today but the thunder kind of fizzled out by the end of the game. The first P-1 got the lyrics to Boy's Don't Cry wrong and said "girls" don't cry which really upset Sean. The other song we did was a Wilson Phillips tune which Ashlee thought that was the name of an actual person. It gets even better because she thought it was a man. We tried to keep he fooled but a P1 wrote her and ruined it.

~ Today we broke into a Family Feud style of busting on Sky. All the guys went around the room in a Family Feud style of guessing things that Sky is. We went from B. Rob guessing correct that she is a honey baked ham fanatic to Eddie guessing wrong to the fact that she does not like to be toasted.

~ We had a huge debate over the professor from Emmanuel college who re-enacted the Virginia Tech shooting in his classroom and was fired over it. Mikey and Sky could not be further apart in their views. Sky felt that the professor had the right to do what he did and Eddie and Mikey felt he was irresponsible with his actions and deserved to be fired. We listened to the audio of the professor, who has posted a 18 minute video on youtube talking about his firing.

Tomorrow on The Mikey Show... Stan Humphries an Kasim Osgood.

Mikey Show Recap Monday April 23, 2007

Today on The Mikey Show…

~ Ashlee made her triumphant return to the show today. We are all wicked happy to have her back.

~ Eddie had another television appearance last night on Jim Laslavic's Sports Wrap on Channel 7. Eddie went on the show, which he has almost become a regular on, and talked to Laz about the upcoming NFL draft and how he believes that what the Chargers need is a game breaking wide receiver.

~ Jerry Rice called into the show today. Eddie was over whelmed when Jerry called in because Jerry is Eddie's all time favorite football player. We talked with Jerry about his rigorous off season training and how his training was second to none. He would only have 4 percent body fat during the season and he would run 5 vertical miles everyday (up hill, for the folks that did not understand). Jerry told the guys that he does not have an interest to coach and that he now wants to do other things in his life. He commented on the new coach of the Chargers Norv Turner, saying he is not the guy that can inspire a team to win.

~ We played P1 Trivia today. Today P-1 Carla and P-1 Taalon competing to come in to the studio on Thursday because Friday Eddie and Mikey will be in New York for the draft. The two P-1's held up strong for a while answering questions like "who on the show is the pickiest eater" and "who on the show has a hot mom" but Taalon ended up losing.

~ We played the audio from the Apprentice's first challenge. Their first challenge was to interview a complete stranger at the P-1 party at Dave and Busters and get the stranger to reveal something personal with them. To sum it up, all the interviews were boring and nothing too personal was revealed except for Krysta getting a guy to reveal that his ex-girlfriend tried to commit suicide. Vanessa won immunity and P-1 Lori was fired today.

~ We played P-1 Pop Culture Quiz today. Eddie battled it out with P-1's today in the categories of Action Heroes, Lindsey Lohan, and Late Night band leaders. Eddie surprisingly only went two for three when the last P-1 beat him in guessing the leader of Conan O'Brian's band.

Tomorrow on The Mikey Show… Puss Rock Juke Box.

The Mikey Show Recap 4-20-07

Today on the Mikey Show…

We started off the broadcast today talking about the bet between B Rob and Eddie. The two played a game of Homerun Derby today, where the loser would get his head shaved. This was a big deal, since Rob’s dreads have been his pinnacle of his dirtbagness since he’s been on the show. Eddie, on the other hand, has his wedding coming up, an therefore, would also suffer from getting his head shaved. The two played through, with the final score being 3 to 1… in Eddie’s favor! B Rob immediately got his head shaved by our official barber, P-1 T-Rex. Pictures and video can be found online at www.mikeyshow.com.

Alec Baldwin was in the news today after a voicemail leaked of him verbally abusing his eleven year old daughter. Alec’s message to her was extremely abusive, at times calling her “a pig” and a “little monster.” He also made a point to tell her that he was going to “let her know” how disappointed he was in her when next they met. Mikey was particularly furious about this, since he stated that he found it hard, if not impossible, to understand how someone could cause such lasting pain to their daughter or son intentionally. Although we had a few P-1s call-in to explain Alec’s side of the story, we all agreed wholeheartedly that any type of abuse toward a child that belittles them in any way was simply inexcusable.

Today was, in the wake of the VT massacre, also the eight year anniversary of the Columbine shooting. We had  P-1 Pat call in who was at Columbine at the time of the shooting and explained, from his viewpoint, what he experienced that day.

Jeff Corwin was in on YouTube recently after a segment of his new show was released that included an elephant attacking him. With Corwin close by, the elephant grabbed on to his arm and shook him furiously before letting him go. Corwin called up and told us about the incident from his perspective. He explained that, in his line of work, accidents, such as this, are simply part of the job and that their goal is simply to help the animals, regardless of how dangerous they are.

Mikey Show Recap 4-19-07

Mikey Show Recap 4-19-07

We finished the other half of P1 love connection today with a recap of yesterday’s daters.  P1 Heidi ended up choosing P1 Brian as her date and today we had them on the show to tell us about their date last night.  Although they both enjoyed their time together, Heidi seemed to be looking for a guy with a funnier personality.  They exchanged email addresses but could not promise another date.  Unfortunately because of the contestant’s inconsistency on the air, this was the last P1 love connection the show will have.

The show brought back Tough Love with Eddie and the P1’s went crazy.  An email came in from a P1 who turned out to act like a 12 year old boy who loved to "pants" people and wanted to know why his friends were upset with this.  The second email of the bunch was the story of guy who had a habit of being really nosy with his co workers.  I guess he couldn’t figure out why his co-workers hated him and had to ask Eddie for some advice.  The final email came from a loyal female P1 who told a disgusting story.  Her husband would come back covered in sweat from the gym and instead of showering, would get into bed and go to sleep.

With the homerun derby just around the corner, Rob and Eddie continued to talk smack and explained how they each have been preparing for the contest.  As everyone knows Eddie and Rob are wagering a hair cut.  We had P1 T-Rex call and in and announced he will be the official Homerun derby barber and will shave the head of the looser immediately following the contest.

Along with the homerun derby contest, the cast of the show will be at Dave and Busters for a Mikey Show P1 Party.  It looks to be a spectacular event as the P1’s will show up in numbers to hang out with the cast as well as getting their first look at this seasons Mikey Show Apprentice contestants.  The show looks to weed out the weak in the upcoming competition as tomorrow they will have their first official apprentice challenge.

Tomorrow on the show the most anticipated sporting competition in the history of the Mikey Show, The Homerun Derby starting Eddie and B-Rob.

The Mikey Show Recap 4-18-07

Today on the Mikey Show…

Mikey got an E-mail from P-1 Steph, whose boyfriend recently told her that he was not interested in marriage or children for a while. We brought it our expert, Dr. Phil, whom Mikey spotted early this morning making cookies in an E-Z Bake oven in the Clear Channel bathroom… Snickerdoodles, to be exact… Steph was advised by Dr. Phil, who just couldn’t remember her name, that she couldn’t change him.

We played P-1 Love Connection today. We couldn’t get a hold of P-1 John, so we had P-1 Rick fill in. P-1 Heidi was in the studio today, and was absolutely gorgeous. She questioned the guys and eventually picked P-1 Brian. They’ll be going out to Poway Sushi Lounge tonight, and we’ll be following up with them tomorrow morning.

Today was a day that will live in infamy… We played a game called “Who can Sean Beat Now?” where Sean (a.k.a. Big Tuna) and a P-1 play a game of “80s name that tune” Sean is No-no-notorious for winning every time. Big Tuna was on a roll today, beating the first two P-1s, but when we got to P-1 Bathhouse… he just gave up. It was as if his will to live, his soul, his memory of everything 80s… just disappeared. We tried to revive him, with no luck… Congrats, P-1 Bathhouse… for dethroning a national hero.

Today's Podcast
Eddie let Sky try some of his gorgonzola pasta, without telling her there was gorgonzola in it. Sky LOVED it, but she refused to believe that it contained a lot of gorgonzola… so we called the restaurant, Nicolosi's, where the cook told us that there were 6 heaping tablespoons of cheese in every plate. We tried to get Sky to try anchovies, which we were sure she would love… as long as she didn't know what they were.

For this Friday's Home Run Derby, B Rob announced that if he loses… HE’S GOING TO SHAVE OFF HIS DREADS!!!! Eddie, who has his WEDDING coming up, also agreed to shave his head if he loses. Either way, it’s going to be crazy. They’ll be competing this Friday; at 7 a.m. Directions can be found at www.mikeyshow.com.

Mikey Show Recap 4-17-07

Mikey Show Recap 4-17-07

Mikey started off the show with the Virginia Tech University shooting incident from the day before.  We played multiple clips from different news casts from yesterday and today.  There were multiple topics discussed amongst the cast and with P1’s such as gun control, and if there had been a bomb threat warning just a few days before.  We also broke the news of the gunman’s identity, as well as the St. Edward's University bomb scare in Texas.  As the show continued Sky continued to give updates on the situation, and took phone calls on the tragedy.

The Mikey show announced they had selected this years apprentice contestants.  Mikey and Eddie did a preliminary screening for all the contestants yesterday after the show and they eventually narrowed it down to 6 people.  In previous apprentice shows there have been an even number of women to men in the competition.   This year is different as the show brings in five women and a single guy.  We eventually brought them to the studio and replayed audio from their screening the day before.  Krista, Holly, Lori, Jessica, Vanessa and Zeth have their first competition at this weeks P1 party at Dave and Busters.

The show has had numerous sporting competitions and today was no different as the show introduced a new competition between B-Rob and Eddie.  They will compete in a homerun derby this Friday at a near by baseball diamond.  The cast weighed in on who would win along with debating whether to use a soft ball or a hard ball.  P1’s called in with their opinion as well and it was unanimously voted that the competition will use a hard ball with a wooden bat.

Towards the end of the show we talked to P1 Brian who had the comments from the week before about Don Imus.  Mikey had been emailing him back and forth all of last week.  They had been debating the topic of the comments made by Imus, and Brian wanted to argue that his comments were not racist and was not just intended for the African American players on the Rutgers team, but all the players.  After a long on air battle Mikey was able to convince Brian that those comments were racist.

Tomorrow on the show P1 love connection.

The Mikey Show Recap 4-16-07

Today on The Mikey Show…

We played P-1 Balderdash today. In this game P-1s try to guess which definition of a word is the right one. Three of the four definitions given, are fictitious and written my Mikey, Eddie, and Sean. P-1 Ashley and P-1 D Row both won spots to the P-1 Party on April 20th.

Mikey brought up the subject of people who believe that they can communicate with their pets. We took a few phone calls, including a guy who honestly believed that he had a psychic connection with animals. Mikey and Eddie totally thought the guy was insane to the Nth degree, but Sky supported him; she, too, believes that there are certain people who can have a connection with animals.

Paul Rodgers, from the band Bad Company, called in today. Mikey admitted to being a huge Bad Company fan, and we questioned him on his current tour with Queen. He is also releasing a live CD called “Live In Glasgow,” which will be out tomorrow. The DVD will be released in late May.

We played P-1 Trivia today. P-1 Mark went up against P-1 Kristen in a game of Mikey Show trivia. It was close, but in the end, P-1 Mark won. He will be joining us in the studio on Friday.

Today’s Podcast
Mikey and Sean received an E-mail form a listener who had a story about her visit to the meat department. The attendant helping them fist started off be excusing himself because he had just sneezed and needed to clean up. He then came back and proceeded to help them out… without gloves; meanwhile, wiping his nose with his free arm. Sean, being a germaphobe, was disgusted be the story and began to explain himself. The rest of us kept interrupting, and we got into a battle of “Pardon me…”

The Mikey Show Recap 4-13-07

Today on The Mikey Show…

We played Sound Effects Theater today. In this segment, two P-1s go head to head against each other trying to mimic as many Mikey Show sound effect drops as they can. Both P-1s went for a long while back and forth with tons of different Mikey Show drops, from Sky’s “I like ham” to Borat’s “High five!” We decided to stop the game, because they were both just too good. Each P-1 got tickets to see Stone Sour on the 22nd.

We received an E-mail from a P-1 that explained that he had an interesting story about how he met his wife. Mikey brought up that he met his wife through Internet chatting, and didn’t meet her for four years. We had a lot of P-1s calling in explaining their stories. One P-1 called up and said she met her husband while operating on him while they were both stationed in Iraq.

Al Roker, from the Today Show, called in to the show today to talk primarily about his stance on the Imus situation currently in the news. Al stated that the decision to fire Imus, as well as the words said by him, have all been a very harsh reality. He states on his website that he “takes no personal satisfaction in the Imus program’s removal” although in recent interviews, he has also stated that he would support the ultimate judgment of the station.

We announced the 2nd P-1 Party we’ll be holding at Dave and Busters on April 20th. P-1s can win spots in the party by listening in all next week. The party will include dinner and a $10 D&B Power card.

A P-1 called in today and asked us our opinion on what she, a non-romantic girl, should do for her husband for their one year anniversary. We began mentioning a few legitimate offers, but eventually, we just ended up on the subject of Sky and her “Jacuzzi Club.” Against everyone else on the show, Sky stands firm that a “Jacuzzi Club” is not the same concept as a Bathhouse. P-1s, unfortunately, called up and disagreed with her; one even mentioned one in Hillcrest that he said everyone knows about its uses…

Monday on the Mikey Show…
P1 Balderdash!

Mikey Show Recap 4-12-07

4-12-07 Mikey Show Recap

P1 Price is Right was played early this morning.  2 P1’s went head to head to see who could correctly identify the price of a few products.  Both P1’s were horrible contestants and were not able to guess the price of any of the products.  Consequently a tie breaker was then given and P1 Will luckily came out victorious.

This week’s love connection was between P1 Francesca and P1 Mike who went out to a sushi restaurant and were on the show this morning to recap their date. At first it appeared that they both enjoyed each others company and were able to connect, as Mikey dug in to investigate a bit more it became apparent that Francesca did not want to go out on another date.  Although she said Mike was “super” cute, Francesca was looking for someone a bit more outgoing and less reserved.

Actor Ray Liotta called into the show.  Mikey discussed one of his best pieces Good Fellas.  He described some juicy scenes during the filming of that movie which really raised eyebrows.  Along with talking about his classic film, Ray was also on to promote his new movie called Slow Burn.

P1 Ken called in and was asking for some advice from the cast.  He has a couple of kids and he wanted to know if it was ok if for him to play competitively with his kids in sports and not them win, and then let them win when they competed in video games.  The cast and several P1’s chimed in and helped him with his situation.  A few P1’s agreed with the way he competed with his children, while others.  Somehow this turned into an arm wrestling match between father Eddie and son Rob.  Like all the other competitions Eddie defeated Rob and was once again crowed winner of all challenges.

Mikey who was once “in” on Idol star Chris Daughtry was fed up with his recent angry act and decided to ask the question “Why are you so mad Chris?” With that, the cast broke down the lyrics to Daughtry’s hit song “Home”.  While catchy, the song talked about a singer who hates his job and is ready to come home and be away from the whole Hollywood environment.  These sad lyrics proved to be quite ironic especially coming from for a star who has been in the spotlight for a few months.  Oddly enough Chris actually wrote the lyrics to the song.  Interesting.

Tomorrow on the show Chargers Linebacker Shawn Phillips….

The Mikey Show Recap 4-11-07

Today on the Mikey Show…

We brought back Tyrone and Tortilla today. Tyrone and Tortilla are two characters who interview “less than meaningful” people whose common goal is to simply get on the radio. Today’s interviewee was a guy who wanted to discuss how Tiger Woods lost the Masters Tournament. In classic T&T fashion, Tyrone and Tortilla eventually led this guy to believe that he was a racist.

We played P-1 Love Connection today. P-1 Francesca came into the studio and chose between three guys on the phone, P-1 Mike, P-1 James, and P-1 Erik. We got a little sidetracked, since all three of the guys on the phone weren’t really giving to much information to answer Francesca’s questions. In the end, however, P-1 Mike won Francesca’s heart. They will be going on a date to Poway Sushi Lounge tonight, and we will be checking up on them tomorrow morning.

We followed up on the Imus issue that has been in the news recently, commenting on the vast amount of media coverage this story has received within the last 24 hours. Mikey commented on it, stating that the media (Al Sharpton, in particular) is scapegoating Imus in relief for the larger picture. Mikey also stated that if one doesn’t want to hear a racially distorted figure, such as Imus, they don’t have to. It’s ultimately our choice to support these media characters, but for the station to fire him over such a backwards statement as “nappy-headed hoes” is going to far.

The Chargers’ 2007 schedule was released today. Eddie commented that the team has a difficult schedule ahead of them for the 2007 season, considering the amount of early 10a.m. games, as well as east coast flights they have ahead of them. Many of the teams playing have also gotten better since last season, which should be challenging for the Chargers but definitely manageable.

Tomorrow on the Mikey Show…

From Goodfellas, actor, Ray Liotta will be calling in!

Mikey Show Recap 4-10-07

4-10-07 Mikey Show Recap

The show opened talking about Don Imus’ remarks towards the Rutgers Women's basketball.  Don went on Reverend Al Sharpton's show and apologized to his audience for his irresponsible statement.  Sharpton had his daughter in the studio and accused Don of not only insulting the African American players, but of all African Americans.  We played clips of Don Imus on his show when the incident happened and his debate with Sharpton about his punishment.  The topic was later revisited by playing clips of Sharpton and Imus on the Today show with Matt Lauer.

We also played a game between Sky and listener to see who the ultimate Google master was.  The game had Sky and a listener competing to see who could use the search engine Google to find a topic.  Sky won two out of the three topics but the last one was reversed and it was quickly corrected on the air by a few loyal listeners.  She was incorrect about how many Black Angus restaurants there were in San Diego.  She stated there were 5 when there were officially 7 including two in home of North County.

The show discussed the news about Elizabeth Hasselback and how she was disgusted with a cup of tap water that was given to her during a recent flight with her husband.  Mikey and Eddie both said she had a reason to be upset because the water had been sitting in dirty tank on the plane for a long period of time.  P1’s called in to voice their opinion.  The conversation turned into a discussion about tipping airline stewardesses.

Apparently yesterday the P1 who called in and won the P1 challenge, and won the chance to sit in studio on Friday, had already won the challenge a few Fridays before.  The P1 admitted to changing his name in order to get another chance to come in.  Mikey was furious…so we played the P1 challenge once again looking for an honest P1.  The two contestants that went head to head ended up answering all the questions correct so Mikey invited both of them to come into the studio Friday morning.

A conversation about new DVD’s and CD’s quickly turned into a P1 legitimate question free-for-all bombarding Sky with continuous legitimate questions.  The questions ranged from asking about Ramsey to how she toasts, to if Sky tips her husband or anyone else.  The questions pilled up so high that Sky refused to take anymore legitimate questions from any of the P1’s or from any other cast member.  Mikey agreed to a cease and desist, but later on towards the end of the show, the topic of legitimate questions was revisited.

Tomorrow on the Mikey Show look forward to P1 love connection.

The Mikey Show Recap 4-09-07

Today on the Mikey Show…

We played P1 Trivia today. Unfortunately, the week’s two contestants were not up to the usual par for P-1s who’ve played in the past… I blame the weather; makes people tired, poor P-1s were probably all tuckered out. P-1 Farmers Boy won by default, since P-1 Jenn eventually hung up because of the pressure.

Mikey received an E-mail the other day from a P-1 whose son is in little league baseball. The problem that the father has is that his son is the WORST player on the team and constantly looses games for the team. During the game, he said, he can often hear other parents talking about it. Mikey and Eddie agreed that the parents and coaches have an equal responsibility to get the child interested in the sport and have him stick through with it until the end. Sky said that if the kids are having fun, then what is the problem?

We played P-1 Pop Culture today. In this game, Eddie goes up against P-1s in a game of pop culture trivia. Eddie went undefeated this week… AGAIN! On the phone, we had P-1 Krista, P-1 Departed, and P-1 Joe Daddy, who all lost to Eddie’s supreme knowledge.

There was a story in the news about how Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger  was backing a plan for California government to stop gang violence. The story itself was semi-interesting, but Sky made it worthwhile by giving all of his quoted statements in her best Ah-nold impression. We all had a good laugh. You can hear it on today’s podcast.

Tomorrow on the Mikey Show…
The return of Tyrone and Tortilla!

The Mikey Show Recap 4-05-07

Today on the Mikey Show…

We followed up on our P-1 Love Connection that we held yesterday, between P-1 Sarah and P-1 Nathan. P-1 Nathan chose Sarah over the other two girls yesterday and went to Poway Sushi Lounge last night. Nathan surprised us all by acting a bit conceded while on the phone today… but it somehow it seemed like Sarah kinda dug it... either way, they both said they had a good time and that they’ll be going on a second date.

We revived the popular game, Reality Bites, today. Sky read off three very different reality TV ideas written by Mikey, Eddie, and Sean. P-1s then call in and vote on which reality TV show they thought was the best. Today’s three shows were Don’t Burn the Toast, Sun burning down the house, and Sunning with the Stars… all three miraculously revolved around Sky’s idiosyncrasies: her 2nd degree sunburn, her black man-servant, Ramsey, and her unabridged love for Honeybaked Ham.

We had Alfred Molina, from Spiderman 2 on the phone today. He called in and talked with us about his new movie coming out this Friday, called The Hoax. Alfred Molina also starred in one of Mikey’s favorite movies, Boogie Nights. Alfred mentioned that the salary stated on IMDB.com is also much lower than it stated for his work on Spiderman 2. His listed salary was $3 million.

We had Elliott Yamin in the studio, today. He stopped in briefly, and talked with us about his experience on American Idol. Elliott also is sporting a new smile with some recent dentistry work he had done. He told us about that experience and what hell it was going through it. However, he stated, he’s very happy with the end results.

Tomorrow on the Mikey Show…

Mikey Show Recap 4-04-07

Today on the Mikey Show…
Early in the show, we played "Who Can Sean Beat Now?" In this game, our boy, Sean, goes up against P-1s who think they can beat him in a game of "Name that 80s tune" Sean, like we thought, Sean went 5 for 5 today, beating out every P-1 we that called in. Sean is very modest about his talent in 80s music trivia, but we back him up every time. "Chill town, baby!"

We played P1 Love Connection today… with a twist. Today, instead of having one female pick between three guys, P1 Nathan came into the studio and chose between three girls, P1 Megan, P1 Sarah, and P1 Perry. After a rigorous interview with each girl, Nathan finally chose P1 Sarah. The two will be going on a date tonight at Poway Sushi Lounge. Tomorrow, we'll call them both up and see how the date went!

The Padres girls stopped into the studio briefly and spoke with us about the upcoming season.
Pastor, Miles McPherson, and NFL MVP LaDanian Tomlinson, came into the studio today. Miles spoke with us about everything from intelligent design to breakfast food. We spoke with LT about the upcoming season, as well as his MVP trophy he received last year. Most importantly, we delved deep into the good stuff, and asked both of them their thoughts on who the next American Idol will be. Both thought that Melinda Doolittle had the best voice and would probably win the competition. This was today's POD cast segment.

We played P1 trivia with Gary and Jenny for a shot to hang out with the show on Friday. Jenny apparently was a bit nervous throughout the contest. She was not able to answer any of the questions asked of her, while Gary showed his true P1 stature by correctly answering all his. He will be in on Friday morning to experience the show live and in person.

BRob introduced a new song about the new addition to the show, Bobby Kernels. Listeners were all over the place; some loved it and complemented and others hated it. From there the jokes turned quickly to Sky and her obsession with Honey baked ham.

Tomorrow on the Mikey show…
Star of the #1 movie in America, Blades of Glory: John Heder

The Mikey Show Recap 4-3-07

Today on the Mikey Show…

We played Puss-Rock Jukebox today. In this game, P-1s try to finish singing the lyrics of an 80’s song that we play for them. P1 Bathhouse won UFC 99 on pay-per-view, courtesy of Cox Communication.

Mikey brought up an interesting question: “If you were to die, how long would you want your spouse to wait before they were to get remarried?” Mikey’s wife said that he would want her to wait at least a year, and not a day earlier. Sky, however, mentioned that she doesn’t think she could remarry if Mr. Sky passed away. We took a couple of calls, one of them stating the Golden Rule: Wait eight weeks for every year that you’re together. P-1s also called in with their stories and experiences.

Sky mentioned today that her husband doesn’t like any new trends that are in style nowadays. Sky dresses very conservatively (we call the style Hippy Grandma) It’s usually a comfortable style, but almost always accompanied with a sweater. We’re trying to get someone to give her a make-over, and we’ll update you as we progress more.

Guitar Hero II is coming out for XBOX 360, and Bobby Kernels was a little overzealous about its release. He tried desperately to explain why it was the great game in the world with very little luck. Boston Rob tried to help his explanation of the guitar-shaped controller by adding “so… it’s like a fisher-price guitar?” Bobby explained that you’d only understand it if you played it.

We deconstructed the Carrie Underwood song, “Before He Cheats” and came to the keen realization that she’s crazy. The song talks about destroying her boyfriend’s car after a loose assumption that he was cheating on her. If we see her soon, we’ll make sure to turn her in to the police for felony vandalization charges…

Tomorrow on the Mikey Show…

NFL star, LaDainian Tomlinson will be in the studio!

The Mikey Show Recap 4-2-07

Today on the Mikey Show…

Mikey made two major announcements in the early portion of the show. First off, Mikey said that we will be doing a P-1 Cabo Cruise trip. The trip is from August 2nd until the 6th. For more information, or to reserve a room, P-1s can call 1-866-481-BOAT.

Also announced this morning, we will be holding P-1 Apprentice 3 soon. However, this year, the winning P-1 will be guaranteed an on air shift on Rock 105.3! The inner will also get a trip for two to Kauai, Hawaii and stay at the Hanalei Inn. P-1s can register to be a part of the contest at www.Mikeyshow.com.

We played P-1 Balderdash today. In this game, Sky gives P-1s a word, along with four definitions. Three of the definitions are fake, written by Mikey, Eddie, and Sean, and one of them is the real one. P-1s have to guess which one is the real one. P-1 Alex won a viewing of UFC 99 on Pay-per-view.

A woman called up with a question about the cruise, but more importantly was probably one of the strangest people we’d ever talked to. “Off her rocker” would be a kind was of describing her. She was most likely one of the few people left that consider themselves to be true hippies; the last of a tie-dying breed.

We received an E-mail from a P-1 today who had a question about relationship etiquette. In a breakup, he asked, who gets the friends? Overall, we thought that it was eventually up to the friends to make the decision but that it also depends on the breakup situation; a bad breakup is going to be harder to keep civil in friendly situations.
